Ongoing developments in energy generation and storage offer unprecedented opportunities to make new and existing power plants more sustainable. Bakker Sliedrecht is driven by the urge to develop new and improved concepts and is often involved early in the design process to ensure a fully optimized powerplant.
By including the powerplant in the design of a new vessel at an early stage, the added value of new and improved concepts can be fully utilized. For example, we have integrated kinetic energy storage in specialized dredging vessels, and we develop (sub)- DC-grids for ferries, hoppers, and offshore vessels.
Technological developments today are moving at a tremendous pace. Prior to scheduled maintenance, a life extension program, or conversion, it is highly recommended to look at the power plant. This is the ideal moment to add alternative energy generation and storage sources to the power plant. We will be happy to advise you which solution best suits the vessel's operational profile and expected deployability.
Applying new concepts goes beyond limiting emissions or saving fuel. A well-arranged power plant can create a competitive advantage when tendering for new orders. We are happy to advise on creative solutions to get the most out of the vessels' power plant.
