The ambassador of Belgium in the Netherlands visited the Drechtsteden on February 10, 2017. The ambassador spoke in Dordrecht with a delegation from the Drechtsteden Board on economic developments and opportunities in the Flemish-Dutch delta and then visited the companies Bakker Sliedrecht and Valk Welding.
The visit of the ambassador to the Drechtsteden results from a working visit he brought to Dordrecht in 2016 in which he expressed the desire for a return visit to companies in the innovative manufacturing industry and maritime sector in the region. Bakker Sliedrecht is a very future-oriented company which has close ties with Belgium because of trade relations. Bakker Sliedrecht is an innovative, internationally operating electrical company, which largely operates in the design and provision of service in the maritime sector. After a presentation by Director R. de Vries of Bakker Sliedrecht, the Ambassador was shown around the business school at the Griendencollege in Sliedrecht. Emerging talents get an education and will be prepared for a career at Bakker Sliedrecht.
