Bakker Sliedrecht has received the order to extend the lifetime of the electrical installations of two cutter suction dredgers (CSD) of NMDC, the Umm el Zemoul and the Al Hamra. NMDC aims to extend the lifetime of both CSD’s with 15 years while improving the efficiency of their production.
Bakker Sliedrecht is responsible for all main electrical installations during this lifetime extension project. Assembly will take place at Bakker Sliedrecht’s modern and well equiped workshop in Sliedrecht, the Netherlands. The installation and commissioning of these installations will be taken care of by Bakker Sliedrecht in United Arab Emirates.

To improve production efficiency, both CSD’s are being upgraded with dredging automation software from Bakker Sliedrecht. The new dredge profile computer will increase quality and consistency of the dredging operation by means of a GPS guidance system. Moreover, the restore position function on the cutter, which allows operators to resume work automatically, will result in increased production.
Both CSD’s are scheduled for delivery in the last quarter of 2018.
